Māori with cancer - the role of primary care
The aim of the proposed study is to develop a framework for integrated care across primary, secondary and palliative cancer care services in order to improve co-ordination of treatment and support services for Māori experiencing cancer. The objectives are to:
- Identify Māori priorities for service delivery throughout the cancer care pathway from diagnosis.
- Investigate the potential role of primary care providers in facilitating continuous, comprehensive and co-ordinated care across the cancer trajectory for Māori with cancer and their whānau.
- Document current service delivery in the primary, secondary and palliative cancer care areas and opportunities for strengthened integration.
- Develop a framework for integrated cancer care.
