Jonathan Coakley

Jonathan worked as a research officer at CPHR in September 2010-17. He started his PhD in January 2012 working on a national study of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the serum of adult New Zealanders and is now near completion. Jonathan has worked on studies involving POPs in breast milk and household dust, and biological monitoring of selected chemicals of concern in New Zealand adults and children. Jonathan has a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, and his career and research interests relate to the presence of toxic chemicals in humans and the environment. Prior to joining CPHR Jonathan worked at the Ministry for the Environment (MfE) developing policy for contaminated sites and hazardous waste management. After leaving MfE in 2006 Jonathan joined and environmental consultancy where he managed a number of contaminated land projects, including the clean-up of the heavily contaminated Waiwhetu Stream in Lower Hutt.
