Christoph Martens

Christoph Martens works as a Clinical Research Assistant at the Centre for Public Health Research since 2015. He completed a Diploma of Nursing in Austria in 2004 and worked as a Registered Nurse in a cardiac & angiographic ward for several years. He later completed a Bachelor degree in Development Studies at the University of Vienna. His current work involves investigating whether the consumption of raw milk is associated with a lower risk of allergies and asthma as well as a study exploring the effects of airway bacteria in the development of childhood asthma. He is also performing clinical testing on participants for both studies and another asthma study investigating neurogenic dysfunction as a key mechanism in asthma pathogenesis.
Christoph’s research interests are social determinants of health, sexually transmitted diseases and public health of minority populations like LGBTIQ. He is currently studying part time toward a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health.
